Jac graduated with a degree in Biology from UC Berkeley in 1972. After working as an environmental engineer for several years, he enrolled in the Enology Masters Program at CSU Fresno and graduated as a State Scholar and Scholarship recipient from the American Society of Enology and Vitculture with a 4.0 GPA.
In 1982, Jac completed a one year internship at Chateau St. Jean Winery with Pete Downs and Dick Arrowood. After a brief 2 year stay at a small boutique winery in Temecula, Mt Palomar, Jac was offered the position of Assistant Winemaker at the very prestigious Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in Napa Valley. After 5 years of tutelage under the auspice of the world-renowned Warren Wniarski, Jac accepted the position of Chef de Cave at the neighboring Stag's Leap Winery. Jac's next career move was in 1993 when he served as the winemaker for another Stag's Leap winery, S. Anderson. He crafted wines of superlative quality for the Anderson family for the next 5 years.
In 1997, Jac accepted one of Napa Valley's greatest challenges, becoming winemaker for the venerable Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena. The result was a vastly improved and contemporary winery facility prepared to compete in the highly demanding world of 21st century Napa Valley winemaking.
In 2003, Jac was offered another coveted winemaking opportunity; Spring Mountain Vineyard, one of the world's truly outstanding winegrowing estates. Armed with 25 years of experience and a team of professionals garnered from his long experience in Napa Valley, he produced some of the finest wines Spring Mountain and the Napa Valley had ever experienced.
Ten years later, in 2013, Jac decided to launch his own consulting business. The principal project that led to his decision was Hindsight Wines. Jac will use his 30+ years of winemaking experience to create the Hindsight Wines portfolio. He works closely with the talented team of ownership and instills a level of professionalism and quality that will add to the continued success of the brand.
